St. Michael's Primary School, in the shadow of the parish church, has served the community since its opening in September 1964.
St Michael’s is a rural school, situated in the small village of Finnis, in the heart of the Parish of Dromara, County Down. It shelters in the shadow of the imposing Slieve Croob, the source of the river Lagan. Nearby is the wonderful Neolithic dolmen at Legannany and a medieval sou terrain.
The school comprises four classrooms, a multipurpose hall, a kitchen, toilets, including a disabled toilet, office and staff room.
The Board of Governors works closely with the Principal and staff with the aim of creating a school where the children feel valued and can grow in a strong Catholic faith.
There is an active Parents Association who do excellent fundraising work to address the childrens' needs.
St Michael’s is a happy and welcoming school; the Principal and staff have established a friendly and orderly atmosphere, which promotes a caring ethos, based on mutual respect and good working relationships at all levels.
The children are pleasant, courteous, secure and well-behaved. The non-teaching staff make a valuable contribution to the life and work of the school.
